About us

We are The Story Mouse (UK) Limited and we love telling stories! In fact, we love telling stories so much that our friends often asked us to use our range of voices to make recordings of all those fairytales and stories we grew up with for their own children. The stories were a big hit, so we decided to expand the catalogue and make them more widely available. And so, The Story Mouse was born.

The Story Mouse app offers a selection of the best traditional stories, fables and fairy tales from Hans Christian Andersen, Beatrix Potter, Aesop and more. All the titles in The Story Mouse app are beautifully illustrated, narrated by professional broadcasters and come with the options of “Read it to me” or “Read it myself”. 

Bertie the Guinea pig, a character exclusive to The Story Mouse joined us in the autumn of 2011 and in early 2012 we published our first animated apps. We add to our catalogue of titles with fresh material all the time so come back regularly to see what's new.

Need some help?

Technology is wonderful, but we all know that sometimes it does things we weren’t expecting. If you have experienced any issues with the app, please be assured your purchases have been safely recorded with Apple and you will be able to restore them once the technical glitch is resolved.

You can contact us at any time using the email address below, but here are some simple solutions to try first.

Update to the latest version

From time to time we release updates to our apps which contain several improvements so please first check that you have the latest version.

  1. 1.Make sure your device is connected to a good WiFi network.

  2. 2.On you device, tap on the “App Store” icon.

  3. 3.Go to the “Updates” section and look for “The Story Mouse” icon in the list. Select it and tap on “Update”.

Restore your purchases

If the stories you have previously purchased now appear with a price tag, you can restore them free of charge by following these steps.

  1. 1.Start the app.

  2. 2.Tap on the “Info” button.

  3. 3.Tap on the “Restore” button and enter the same Apple ID and password you used when you made your original purchase.

Re-install the app

Common issues with many types of app are solved by re-installing the app concerned. To re-install, you need to be connected to the internet via a good WiFi signal (note: it is not possible to download the app on 3G).

  1. 1.Delete the app.

  2. 2.Go to the App Store and look for The Story Mouse and re-install the app. Please make sure you use the same Apple ID you used when you made your original purchase and you won’t be charged.

  3. 3.Once the app is re-installed, if some apps or stories you have previously purchased show a price tag, simply restore your purchases (see above for how to do this).

Please state any error messages which appear and tell us the model of iPhone or iPad you are using. Tell us which version of iOS is installed too and we’ll do our best to help - quickly!
