A library for younger children

Bertie the Guinea Pig loves new technology! His twelve stories all come as virtual books, complete with fun illustrations and clear text.

Bertie’s stories for iPad, iPhone and iPod touch are now available in The Story Mouse app, so you can take his tales with you, wherever you go.

View the stories your way

Bertie’s books operate in a choice of modes. In “Read it to me” mode, the pages turn automatically. Or, choose “Read it myself” to turn the voice off so that you can advance the pages at your own pace.

It’s a great way of reading along with your children while they gain real confidence learning their ABCs.

Phrase highlighting and fun illustrations

In “Read it to me” mode, phrases are highlighted as they are read, making the stories easy to follow for young learners.

Superb artwork by Bertie’s illustrator Liz Lewis fills every story with fun and character. Bright, engaging pictures are displayed on every page as the stories progress.

Exclusive to The Story Mouse

Bertie’s author Helen J. Aitken is a real guinea pig fan! Originally written for her daughter, Helen’s stories are inspired by her family’s own real life pets.

Helen’s warm and friendly tone makes her the perfect narrator for Bertie. Great for long journeys, bedtime or for children who are just starting to read, we’re sure you’ll love Bertie the Guinea Pig!

A free story for you!
